Radio 85 1/31/06

Awesome football coaches like Joe Gibbs and Tony Dungy demonstrate great character on and off the field. I love these men of God! They show that there is more to life than sports and expect their players to be real men. Sunday is the 40th Super Bowl. At Riverside Community Church we will be challenged to be men and women of strong character-to live like Jesus did. Why don’t you come out to the theater near the Food Lion here in Farmville at 10:30? Hey, check us out on the web at riversidec2.org. ps We’re having a Super Bowl party at my house and you’re invited. Call 547-6770 for more information.

I'm sure you've heard about the tragedy that struck the Tony Dungy family. His 18 year old son committed suicide before the second to last game of the regular season. Mary and I held hands and prayed for the Dungys immediately after hearing. Even a terrible, unspeakable tragedy like this has not destroyed Tony's faith. He has a tremendous testimony within and without the NFL for not only talking about Jesus, but actually living like Jesus. This Sunday all of us at Riverside will be challenged to LIVE like Jesus did. He demonstrated humility, love, and certainly determination in the midst of troubles. This past Sunday the worship team were on their game and we look forward to our worship time Sunday AM. I want to again invite you to Mary and my house Sunday evening for our super Bowl party. Bring some friends and some good food to share. We will hear from Tony Dungy during the Half time. (I already cheated and watched it. It's POWERFUL.) See you on Sunday.

  • Thursday evening - February 2 - We will have First Thursday at Tom and Delma's house.
  • Sunday - Celebration Service 10:30 @ the theater.
  • Sunday evening - SUPER BOWL PARTY @ the Lacey's.
